Week in McLean: McLean Community Foundation Awards $62,450

The McLean Community Foundation recently awarded $62,450 in grants to the McLean Community. More than $30,000 was granted to McLean Little League for their capital improvement plan. The money will fund the new brick recognition wall at the facility. Additionally, the McLean Community Center’s Old Firehouse Teen Center was awarded $25,000 for outdoor hardscape improvements. Other organizations including Fairfax County Library Foundation, SHARE, Inc of McLean and the Winterfest Parade benefited from financial support of the foundation as well.

The goal of the foundation is always to improve the McLean Community and these projects are indicative of the work the foundation does. Since their first grant to the McLean Volunteer Fire Department in 1981, MCF has awarded more than $1.5 million in grants to local nonprofits. The McLean Community Foundation is a nonprofit formed in 1978 by the McLean Citizen’s Association to meet the philanthropic needs of a growing McLean community. The focus is entirely on efforts that benefit the McLean community.
