AAUW Panel to Discuss Title IX

The McLean Area American Association of University Women (AAUW) branch meeting to be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Avenue, McLean, will feature a panel discussion on Title IX. Panelists Dr. Jennifer Hammat, Title IX coordinator at George Mason University and Karen Keys Gamara, at-large Fairfax County School Board member, will discuss the history of Title IX and the current status of this important law. The meeting is open to the public.

McLean Community Foundation Grant Request Deadline

The McLean Community Foundation is accepting grant requests for its current grants cycle until Feb. 1, 2019. Applications can be found on the MCF’s website at mcleancommunityfoundation.org.

The McLean Community Foundation recently awarded $66,950 in grants to the McLean Community. More than $30,000 was granted to McLean Little League for their capital improvement plan. The money will fund the new brick recognition wall at the facility. Additionally, the McLean Community Center’s Old Firehouse Teen Center was awarded $25,000 for outdoor hardscape improvements. Other organizations including Falls Church/McLean Children’s Center, Fairfax County Library Foundation, SHARE, Inc of McLean and the Winterfest Parade were beneficiaries of the foundation as well.

The McLean Community Foundation (MCF) is a non-profit formed in 1978 by the McLean Citizens Association to meet the philanthropic needs of a growing McLean community. The focus is entirely on efforts that benefit the McLean community.
