Herndon Samantha Hendrie of Herndon knew she didn’t have to worry about dinner for her family Thursday, April 19, she just had to bring them to Worldgate.
“It’s a great night, because I just have to take a five-minute drive, and there’s an entire world of food within 50 feet,” she said. “It’s one of the events that our family has come to for the last few years, and the kids know to ask about it every time we pass Worldgate.”
The event was the 21st annual Taste of the Town, which featured more than 20 Herndon restaurants serving up their signature dishes to benefit the Council for the Arts of Herndon.
Guests could visit a variety of vendors, from American wings and burgers to international fare from Turkey, Thailand and the Mediterranean, among others.
“I enjoy Taste of the Town because it gives me a chance to try a few appetizers, a few entrees and dessert,” said Sam Calvados, 10. “My favorites were: Jimmy’s [Old Town Tavern] wings, the food at Tara Thai and the cake from Chantel‘s.”
Drinks were served by Arts Council members, as well as Herndon Town Councilmembers and other officials, in their annual tradition.
“It’s cool to go to an event with your friends and see the town leaders right at a table serving drinks and just hanging out,” said Sara Hoover of Herndon. “Just one of those things that’s only possible in a small town.”
