Federal Porn Charges for Former Teacher

In June, Fairfax County police charged a special-education teacher at Poplar Tree Elementary with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. He was immediately suspended without pay, and the school system assured parents that no images of students were found on his computer and school computers were not used.

Now, Robert C. Fenn, 27, of Emerald Chase Drive in Oak Hill, is being prosecuted federally and is slated for a Feb. 11, 2013 jury trial.

He was indicted Dec. 6 by a grand jury in U.S. District Court in Alexandria on one count each of possession and receipt of child pornography. The indictment alleges that he received this material between March 3 and May 6 and further possessed such pornography on June 12.

Fenn had been a substitute teacher with Fairfax County Public Schools since 2009 and was hired full-time last summer. He was just completing his first year at Poplar Tree, where he taught special-ed students in kindergarten through third grade.
