Fundraisers Set for Police Unity Tour

Centreville’s Kevin Whalen is riding for his sixth year in the Police Unity Tour (PUT) Virginia ride, May 10-12. It’s 230 miles from Richmond to Charlottesville to Warrenton to Centreville, and to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The bike ride raises money and awareness for the Memorial fund and the National Law Enforcement Museum to honor and remember all federal, state and local law enforcement officers who’ve died in the line of duty. So Whalen – a federal gent with the Treasury Department – is inviting the public to join in two, local PUT fundraisers.

  • The first is Tuesday, April 16, at the new Coyote Grille restaurant, 14101 St. Germain Drive in Centreville, in Centrewood Plaza. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of its total food sales during lunch, dinner and nighttime. PUT riders and law-enforcement personnel will be bartending for happy hour from 5-8 p.m., and raffle prizes will be awarded. Cash and check donations to the Police Unity Tour will also be accepted.

  • The second is Thursday, April 25, at Glory Days Grill in the Old Centreville Crossing Shopping Center off Braddock Road in Centreville. Glory Days will also donate 10 percent of its total food sales from lunch, dinner and nighttime. PUT riders and law-enforcement personnel will be bartending during the 6-10 p.m. happy hour.

Attendees will vie for raffle prizes of Redskins, Nationals and Caps jerseys, including a special Washington Capitals jersey signed by the team. Cash and check donations to the Police Unity Tour will be accepted.
