Fairfax County Police found 64-year-old Santos Rafael Zelaya inside a residence with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a department release. They responded to a report of a person shot around 8:18 p.m. Thursday, March 26, on the 6100 block of North Kings Highway.
Zelaya died after being airlifted to a local hospital. The Office of the Medical Examiner will conclude the manner and cause of his death.
The police department said a search is underway for four suspects in the shooting: black men between 16 and 25 years old, that may have been driving a dark-colored late-model sedan. Police don’t believe there’s a public safety threat and are investigating the notion the shooting may have been planned rather than random.
