Owner Laurent Janowsky, left, welcomes California winemaker Merry Edwards to La Bergerie restaurant Dec. 9. Edwards, winner of the James Beard Award for Best Wine, Beer or Spirits Professional in the U.S. and 2013 inductee into the Culinary Institute of America's Vintners Hall of Fame, made the Old Town restaurant her only mid-Atlantic stop to personally host a wine pairing dinner. Edwards and her husband Ken Coopersmith are managers of five West Coast estate vineyards: Coopersmith, Cresta d’Oro, Flax, Georganne and Meredith.
