Yorktown Boys’ Lax Edges South Lakes

The No. 2 Yorktown boys’ lacrosse team survived against No. 7 South Lakes on May 14, beating the Seahawks 5-4 in the Conference 6 tournament quarterfinals on May 14 at Yorktown High School.

The Patriots advanced to the semifinals and secured a region tournament berth.

Yorktown faced No. 6 Langley in the semifinals on Tuesday, after The Connection’s deadline. The two teams faced one another in last year’s conference championship game.

Yorktown Girls’ Lax Secures Region Berth

The No. 4 Yorktown girls’ lacrosse team defeated No. 5 Washington-Lee 12-8 in the Conference 6 tournament quarterfinals on May 14 at Yorktown High School.

With the win, the Patriots secured a berth in the region tournament and advanced to the conference semifinals, where the Patriots faced Madison on Tuesday, after The Connection’s deadline.

W-L Boys’ Soccer Upset by McLean

The Washington-Lee boys’ soccer team followed an unbeaten regular season with a quick postseason exit.

The top-seeded Generals lost to No. 8 McLean in penalty kicks, 1-1 (6-5), during the Conference 6 tournament quarterfinals on May 15 in Arlington.

The loss ended W-L’s season.

The Generals, who finished 6A state runner-up last season, ended the 2015 regular season with a 12-0-1 record.
