It had been a pretty quiet year for crime in Alexandria, but just one week after a murder in Old Town, a suspicious death on East Reed Avenue near Potomac Yard has been ruled a homicide.

82-year-old Jerry Scott was found on Monday, July 23, with trauma to his upper body, and an autopsy conducted on Tuesday officially ruled his death as a homicide. Police have not announced the arrest of a suspect but say there is no immediate threat to the public.

This is the third homicide in Alexandria this year.
