CVS to Offer COVID-19 Vaccine

Limited locations to begin Feb. 11

Beginning Feb. 11, Virginians will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at select CVS locations across the state. The Commonwealth is among an initial 11-state rollout to expand COVID-19 vaccines at CVS pharmacies across the country.

Twenty-eight CVS locations will begin offering the vaccine with appointments available for booking on Feb. 9. Vaccines will be available to individuals meeting state criteria, which will be confirmed by the state in advance of the rollout.

Presently, Virginia is in Phase 1B of the vaccine rollout. This includes individuals 65 and older as well as those 16-64 with pre-existing medical conditions.

Patients must register in advance at CVS.com or through the CVS Pharmacy app. Anyone without online access can contact CVS customer service at 800-746-7287. Walk-in vaccinations without an appointment will not be provided.

Participating CVS Pharmacies are located throughout the state, including Bedford, Blacksburg, Chesapeake, Fredericksburg, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, Roanoke, Stafford and Virginia Beach.

Other states participating in the initial CVS rollout include California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Texas.

Separately, Alexandrians eligible for the vaccine can also register through the Alexandria Health Department at www.alexandriava.gov/vaccines or by calling the Health Department hotline at 703-746-4988 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS) through the Center for Disease Control is also an option for pre-registration. www.cdc.gov/vaccines/COVID-19

As of Feb. 2, Alexandria reported 9,528 total COVID-19 cases, up 48 from the previous day. The death toll remained unchanged at 104.
