Fairfax, Woodson Score 13 Cappie Nominations

Continuing their tradition of outstanding, high-school theater, Fairfax and Woodson last week received a total of 13 Cappies nominations. Under Director Chris Whitney, Fairfax High’s 11 nods were for its entry, “Anastasia the Musical.” Under Director Chris Rushing, Woodson High’s two nods were for its musical, “1776.”

The winners will be revealed at the Cappies Gala on Monday, June 10, at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Fairfax and Woodson thespians are competing for these awards against students from many other schools in the National Capital Area.


Fairfax’s nominations:


Kaylee Williams - Lead Actor in a Female Role in a Musical;

Nate Wheeler Smith - Supporting Actor in a Male Role in a Musical;

Tristan Farmer - Comic Actor in a Male Role in a Musical;

Nikolai Crowl - Dancer in a Male Role;

Naomi Bautista - Dancer in a Female Role;

Mauro Manganello - Featured Actor in a Male Role in a Musical;

Gabe Acquavella, Riley Vandell, Raymond Walker - Stage Management;

Naomi Bautista, Libby Hansen, Nate Smith – Choreography;

Orchestasia – Orchestra;

Gaby Adumua, Caitlin Grycewicz, Lilly Kyle – Costumes;

Jessica Awad, Marcus Contreras, Kat Pascual, Kaylee Williams - Marketing and Publicity.


Woodson’s nominations:


Haley Kim - Vocalist in a Male Role;

Ian Conner, Lauren O’Dell, Maddie Cho, and the 1776 Publicity Team - Marketing and Publicity.
