Fairfax Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova smiles as she hands the Police Officer of the Year award to Officer Jackson Parker. Parker, of the Fort Belvoir Department of Public Safety, responded to a call from a mother who reported her son was locked in a bedroom, with a knife. He used his training to talk to the youth, diffuse the situation, and get the teen transported to a hospital where he could receive help.
